Well... I've been trying hard to save my money for another AG. I've been pinching pennies and was also fortunate enough to make some recent successful sales on eBay...soooo...I went out and bought a new doll!
I think I must've sat there at AGPLA for at least half an hour, looking at I-don't-know-how-many Kit dolls. Sales clerks kept coming up to me asking, "Do you need any help? Have you found the right doll yet?" They were really nice about it, but I was embarrassed--I'm so shy and I feel weird if total strangers take notice of me. I also tried pulling a Kit out of her box to examine her, but boy, they didn't like that. LOL... (For the record, though, you are allowed to open doll boxes, but you can't take the dolls out.)
Anyway, I finally chose a Kit I liked. Maybe all AG collectors say this about their dolls, but this Kit really did look different from the other dolls. Her face and body seemed chubbier than the others, and no other doll had as pale freckles as she did. Her freckles are very subtle and seem to blend right in with her skin, while the other Kits have dark freckles that don't seem very natural to me. (No offense to people who like dark freckles!)
And get this--this was mentioned on a recent thread, but her arms are actually kind of squeezable. I was comparing this Kit to another, and I noticed that the other Kit had rock-solid limbs. My Kit's arms, however, were noticeably easier to squeeze. How funny... (I think my poor boyfriend was so confused as I kept telling him, "Look! You can squeeze her arm! Try it!!" )
I will post pics if I can, and I will let you know when I do.
(Oh, one thing I forgot to mention... I hope I don't sound picky, but one thing I noticed when I got home was that Kit seems to have a slightly thin wig. If you move her hair in a certain direction, it's easy to see her wig cap. Is this normal? I wouldn't want to have to return her or rewig her...)

Congrats!! Molly and Kit are the two greatest AGs, in my own opinion, of course. Be sure to post pictures of the two girls meeting.

Congratulations on your new Kit!
And yes, there ARE big differences between individual dolls! AGPLA is where I got my new Elizabeth not long ago, and even the Personal Shopper helping us commented on how different two of the "same" doll could be! (I took a picture of two of the Elizabeths I was looking at, side-by-side--see my AGPLA album!)
In Chicago last March, my PS let me undo the neck band fastening the dolls into the box so I could check for hair thickness, but I could tell she wasn't very comfortable with it, and probably wasn't supposed to--even though I was very careful to refasten everything just like it was. But in that case, I was especially trying to make sure I didn't get a doll with thin hair.
I guess my point is that if you get a PS to help you next time (and there WILL be a next time!), you'll be able to examine the dolls more closely, and be more assured of getting a really nice one that you'll be happy with.
Enjoy your Kit! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Thank you all for your kind comments. Aside from the wig issue (which is fairly minor), I am very happy with my Kit doll. She is so cute and spunky.
I finally took some pictures of my new Kit and I made a new album. This is the link: http://thepidget.greatestjournal.com/
It's the 6/21/06 entry.
Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoy!
